OFSTED Report

We have now received the final report on the recent Ofsted Inspection. A summary of the report is being sent home, one for each family. If for some reason you do not receive one, please call into school for your copy. You are well aware that, as a school, we are continually striving to improve for the benefit of our children, so it is reassuring when an organisation like Ofsted comes in and tells us we are doing a good job and is positively supporting us on the road of continual improvement. Although the responses made by parents in the parents’ meeting and by way of the questionnaire were confidential, and therefore not seen by the school, we were told that they were overwhelmingly positive and supportive of the work we do for the children – this also is very reassuring and much appreciated, and shows that every one is working as a team – staff, children and parents – as it says at the top of  every newsletter. You will read the report for yourselves but I want to draw to your attention certain comments of which we are proud:

This is an effective school ……. pupils of all abilities achieve well ……… teaching is good overall, and has some very good features ( 73% of the teaching seen was good or better and there was no unsatisfactory teaching) …….. the school provides a good quality of education for pupils of all ages ……. the school provides very good levels of care, support and guidance for the pupils ……… parents are very pleased with the education provided by the school ……….. the school gives good value for money ……. the school is well led and managed, and there is a clear and shared vision for the school’s continued development …”

As one would expect there are still things for us to do, and we are grateful for the advice given to us by the lead inspector with regard to the ways we might consider making improvements. The most important areas are listed at the end of the summary. An action plan to address these areas has to be drawn up within 40 days and sent to parents within 5 days of completion – this will be done in due course. This action plan will form part of the annual School Improvement Plan.
